Planned Giving
By contributing a planned gift to the organization, your legacy will live on and continue to support New Avenues and the individuals we serve well into the future. Your planned gift provides a foundation for New Avenues to carry out our mission for years to come Our planned giving process could not be easier, and the impact is great. Simply include New Avenues as a beneficiary in your will by sharing the following language with your attorney:
“I hereby give, devise and bequeath New Avenues to Independence or its successors in interest, the sum of $_________ exclusive of my lifetime donations, if any, for use in its most urgent priorities, as determined by their board of trustees in their sole discretion.”
Your attorney can change this to a percentage of your estate, rather than a fixed amount if you prefer. Contact hello@newavenues.net for more information.

1. Creates Purpose
Giving back—whether through time, skills, or resources—can give your life a deeper sense of purpose. It shifts focus from self to others, which often brings unexpected fulfillment.
2. Strengthens Communities
Acts of giving help weave stronger social bonds. Whether you're mentoring a young person, volunteering at a shelter, or simply checking on a neighbor, you’re contributing to a stronger, more supportive world.
3. Doesn’t Have to Be Big
You don’t need wealth or lots of time to give back. Small actions—like helping someone with groceries, sharing a kind word, or donating unused items—can make a real impact.
4. Is Contagious
Giving often inspires others to give. When people see acts of generosity, it encourages a culture of kindness and community responsibility.
5. Grows the Giver
People who give often report increased happiness, better mental health, and even physical health benefits. It opens your perspective and builds empathy.
