As a way to educate the community about individuals with disabilities, New Avenues established a Speakers Bureau. A dedicated group of professional staff and parents share information at no charge to community service organizations, churches, nonprofits and other interested groups. The same presentations are offered to area corporations
(for-profit businesses) for a tax-deductible donation.
Topics include:
- The benefits of employing individuals with disabilities
- A family perspective on individuals with disabilities
- Aging with developmental disabilities
- What you need to know about Housing Authorities and Section 8
- How to make a house safe for independent living
- Volunteering with individuals with disabilities
- How Art Therapy can assist children and adults with disabilities
