Volunteer Department Partners with area schools

Lake Catholic High School

On November 24th, 16 students from Lake Catholic High School volunteered in our Day Service program. They made decorations for the Holiday Ball and played basketball with program participants.

The students volunteered as a part of Lake Catholic’s “Turkey Day” where all the students in the senior class engage in a day of service at organizations in the community and then return for a turkey dinner. A huge thank you to Lake Catholic and to the wonderful volunteers who gave the participants in our program such a fun day!

John Marshall High School

For the second year, students in the special education program at John Marshall High School are partnering with Buckeye Industries, Cleveland West in a unique work-study program. On a weekly basis, nine students gain work experience at Buckeye Industries while developing valuable job skills that will prepare them to succeed after high school. The students are a great addition to our team, and we are grateful for this innovative partnership!

Hathaway Brown Middle School

The Hathaway Brown student body and GROW Foundation selected New Avenues to form a special partnership for the 2014-15 school year. As a part of this partnership, students will volunteer with us four times throughout the year and donate their dress down day funds. The students from Hathaway Brown have already volunteered at our Halloween Dance. In 2015, they will spend an evening with eight ladies who reside in our Bratenahl Home, volunteer at our Valentine’s Day Dance, and create art with the participants of our Day Services program.
