It has been a “Summer of Adventure” for the campers and staff at New Avenues Summer Camp!  New Avenues Summer Camp, held at Broadmoor School in Mentor, provides ESY (Extended School Year) services, as well as recreational opportunities for children ages 3-22. Children attend camp from 8:30 AM-1:30PM Monday-Friday, and participate in a schedule of daily activities including Music Therapy, art class, gym, swimming, cooking, outside play, lunch, walks, and classroom time. Some children also receive Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy.

Each day of camp has a mini-theme that goes along with the broader theme “Summer of Adventure.” The first day of camp was “Friendship Day,” and campers participated in activities where they got to know each other.  On Pirate Day, the campers and staff dressed as pirates.  On Rainforest Day, Jungle Terry came to visit, and on Inside-Out Day, campers and staff wore their clothes inside-out.

Each week a special event was planned for Friday.  The first Friday of camp, children participated in pony rides.  Other Friday events included the Camp Carnival, Talent Show, Awards Assembly, and a special visit from the Superheroes!
