On March 1st, 21 athletes from New Avenues to Independence made a trip to the Special Olympics Basketball Sectional Tournament at Lorain Community College. AWARDS. The athletes will also be competing in the Special Olympics Basketball State Tournament, held at Bowling Green University on March 22nd. Athletes have been attending practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:15pm-8:15pm. At practices, each participant worked on skills such as passing, dribbling, and shooting.

I want to thank all of you and your staff for making today a success! We could not have done it without you. Today 17 athletes represented New Avenues during the tournament. I was told that this is the biggest team New Avenues has had in a while. I am very excited to say that all of these athletes are eligible to go to the state tournament in Bowling Green on the 21st and the 22nd. I will send out an email next week with more details.

I want to take a minute to brag about your staff. They were very professional today and showed they really care about our guys. Everyone was willing to help out when needed and were terrific with our guys today. Especially those who had to wait until the end of the day to compete. I appreciate all of the staff that went today and would like to extend my grattitude to them. I know with their help and yours we will have a successful state tournament!
