New Avenues is one of 250 finalists in Toyota’s “100 Cars for Good” program, which will award vehicles to 100 non-profit organizations based on votes from the public beginning Oct. 1, 2013.

Toyota’s “100 Cars for Good” program will showcase five non-profit organizations each day for 50 days on Facebook.com/Toyota. Visitors to the page will receive two votes each day to select two separate winning organizations they feel are most deserving of new Toyota vehicles. New Avenues to Independence will be one of five organizations highlighted for voting on November 15, 2013.

Local residents are encouraged to support New Avenues in our quest for a new Toyota Sienna Mobility. If New Avenues receives the most votes and is awarded the vehicle, it will be used to transport men and women with disabilities who do not have cars and are not on a bus route to their jobs at Buckeye Industries, eliminating a common barrier to employment success and independence.

Buckeye Industries offers vocational training and employment to people with disabilities, enhancing their personal pride, growth and happiness. Currently, Buckeye Industries provides training to 116 people, 79 of whom are earning a wage. Earning a paycheck enables them to purchase personal items to meet their basic needs, builds their self-confidence and helps them to achieveindependence. And the community and environment also benefit by their high quality, reliable, eco-friendly services!
