Meet Rima Abraham

Rima Abraham is one of over 140 artists who participate in New Avenues Art Therapy program, Ave. ART. For over 20 years, New Avenues has made art expression a valuable core service to individuals with disabilities based on the belief that the creative process of art is both healing and life-enhancing.

Rima has a very creative way of expressing herself through art and enjoys exploring all types of art media such painting, beading and fiber arts. Because New Avenues program offers both individual and group sessions, Rima has contributed to many group projects like helping to construct one of the traveling trophies for the Cleveland Clinic’s Wipe Out Waste Contest. Rima also added to a group project of recycled art by weaving on a DVD to create a textile wall hanging.

Although Rima loves to do a wide range of art, her favorite is painting. She has created numerous acrylic and watercolor paintings which have been for sale at craft fairs and art shows. A few of Rima’s pieces of artwork were recently on display at the Mona Lisa Café Eco Salon & Spa during Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.

Keep your eyes open for Ave. ART coming to a library near you this fall. These upcoming exhibits, called CreateAbility, are funded through the generosity of the Cuyahoga Arts & Culture and the Char and Chuck Fowler Family Foundation.
