New Avenues is thrilled to announce a grant award of $4,500 from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture (CAC) for our upcoming project, “CreateAbility: Exploring Ave. ART”.

CAC’s mission is to inspire and strengthen the community by investing in arts and culture. Their grants are different than grants from foundations or private donors, because all funding comes from a dedicated tax approved by the residents of Cuyahoga County.

The CreateAbility project will begin with the men and women whom we serve creating artwork using 90-100% recycled materials from Buckeye Industries. The unique artwork that is created will then be publically exhibited at three different locations in Cuyahoga County. Public receptions will be held to enable the community to meet the artists as well as view their art.

“We hope that CreateAbility will generate conversations about the ability of people with disabilities to influence and impact our culture,” states Melissa Newlin, Art Therapist for New Avenues.

Because this project is supported in part by residents of Cuyahoga County, New Avenues would like to thank all of you, as well as Cuyahoga Arts & Culture for the funding for this incredible project. Stay tuned for more details to come in 2015!
