print

On April 17th, Buckeye Industries celebrated its fourth location, Cleveland West, with an Open House and a ribbon cutting. State and local dignitaries were on hand to offer congratulations at 12131 Bennington Ave., Cleveland.

Thomas Lewins, Executive Director of New Avenues, began the program with a welcome and introduction to Buckeye Industries. Remarks and proclamations were given by Elisa Leonard, Community and Media Relations Representative for Congressman Jim Renacci; Zachary Haughawout, Deputy Director, Legislative Affairs & Communications of the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities; and Brad Reynolds, Communication Chief of the Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission. A ribbon cutting by Shawn DaVis, Senior Director of Business Development of the Greater Cleveland Partnership, and Tom Lewins culminated the festivities.

After opening in October of 2012, Buckeye Industries shipped its first load of recyclable plastics, 13,087 lbs. of it, in January. Buckeye Industries is the only company in Northeast Ohio offering medical recycling – recycling most clinical plastics including: pre-incision containers, packaging, trays, saline bottles, packaging, blue wrap and Tyvek.

Plastics recycling offers a much-needed service that not only benefits area companies and the environment but also helps individuals with disabilities in the community.
