Duties

  • establish and maintain a friendship with an individual with  mental retardation/developmental disabilities

  • make phone calls to the resident

  • plan occasional outings 

  • attend New Avenues holiday party, and other special events if possible

  • there are many residents who have little or no family contact and would greatly benefit from special  friendship and one-on-one relationship

Qualifications

  • enthusiasm and commitment! 

  • desire to work directly with client

  • must be reliable

Schedule

  • 1 year commitment required

  • hours vary with each relationship; however the important criteria is consistency
