Aquatics Assistant

Duties

  • assist New Avenues' aquatics instructor with adaptive swim classes for persons with mental retardation/developmental disabilities 

  • provide one on one instruction

  • offer support  and encouragement toward learning new skills 

  • may participate in free swim (not goal oriented, just a fun swim).

A client swims in the pool at Main Campus.

Qualifications

  • ability to display some proficiency in various swimming skills

  • desire to work directly with clients  

  • ability to work with individuals and small groups

  • good physical health 

  • must sign pool use release

Schedule

  • classes are held Monday thru Thursday evenings from 6-9pm

  • volunteer may choose any evening(s) or time slot
